Natasha Obama (2001-), better known by the nickname of Sasha, is the younger daughter of the 44th president of the United States, Barack Obama, and Michelle Obama, the first black First Lady. She has been in the public eye for most of her life.
She was born in Chicago, while her mother worked at the University of Chicago and her father served on the Illinois Senate. Her birth, while a blessing, took an extra toll on her parents who were trying to balance their careers with taking of their first child, Malia. Sasha was a lively baby who kept her parents up at night — when they were both there. Her father traveled often, which left her mother to care for her most of the day.
When she was only three months old, she contracted meningitis, an inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. She almost died. The experience brought her parents even closer together and they took time off from their jobs to care for their child.
As a child in Chicago, Sasha attended University of Chicago Lab School, a private day school affiliated with her mother’s place of work. She left the school after her father was elected to be president in 2008 and the family moved into the White House. She attends Sidwell Friends School in Washington D.C. with her older sister, Malia. After school, Sasha participates in tap and gymnastics.
Living in the White House isn’t all luxury for Sasha. As per her mother Michelle’s rules, Sasha must clean her own room and clear her own dishes, despite having staff available to take care of these tasks. Michelle says she wants her children to take responsibility.
When she’s done with her chores, Sasha has fun playing with her dog, Bo, a Portuguese Water Dog. Their father promised the dog to Sasha and her sister, and they received it when they moved to the White House. Bo was given to the family by late Senator Ted Kennedy.
Sasha is the youngest of the Obama family but has the largest personality — she has been described as “The First Family Ham” for her outgoing and funny nature. She keeps her father smiling by always wanting to have fun, even when others think it’s the wrong time for play.
In the summer of 2010, she met the royal family of Spain with her mother on a sight-seeing trip to the European country.
Her father expects her to become a babysitter when she is a teenager to learn how to manage money. To start her off, Sasha receives an allowance of a dollar a week.

Sounds like she has it to easy really. I mean that white house lawn have to be mowed. No but seriously thats like the minimum of what kids should do. Y’all westerns are way to easy on your kids.
But I can’t help to wonder how being in the “public eye” screws up a kid. But I guess this will all fade when Obama leaves office. All that I remember about the bush kids was that they were drunks.
Now I just got to find a way to get hubby to agree with sending the kids down here on their summer break to my mum when they get older lol. 3 Months in a boring township (well it’s not as boring now as it was when I grew up) and they will appreciate what they have 😉

Even though she’s in the public eye all the time, Sasha seems like a pretty normal kid. She acts very “real” in public. There are lots of times where she goes to an event with her father and the paparazzi snap pictures of her looking bored. I think I remember one time she said “Daddy, can we go home now?”

I remember back at my school we had kids her age walking 15km to school each morning in flipflops.
Well, shes lucky she did not take after Michelle more, hubby do NOT find her attractive and I kind of agree with him 🙂
Our son has to mow the lawn (it’s huge, trust!) at his Dad’s house. He’s got his own basement room that’s bigger than my living room with his own private bathroom. He complains though. Doesn’t stop his father. In fact, while his Dad (imo) is too liberal, he does put his foot down when it comes to the rules in his house!. He’s rather alpha in this respect.
Nonetheless, Sasha is my favourite (I know, one shouldn’t, but I’m NOT one!) of the Obama girls. She just seems cheeky but smart at such a really young age. Her parents seem to be doing a tremendously great job of raising their daughters…….so far. The teenage years and early 20yrs will be rather more telling…….

Sasha actually looks a lot like Michelle, you just have to look closely to see it because she is a little lighter and has a chubbier face. The lower half of her face is all Michelle. Michelle looked like her when she was younger.
And Michelle isn’t bad-looking. I think she has a very handsome look, rather than pretty. She’s grown into her looks more, for sure.

I like Sasha a lot too. Malia is interesting too though, in her own way. She’s more quiet so we see less of her personality. The Obamas do seem to be doing a great job of raising their children. Their children are well-balanced.
Oh now I see it. To bad for Sasha… Still shes probably going to grow up to be a girl who I’d like my son to date.

While I think she is the most handsome first lady in your country that I have seen, I still think shes not that good looking. I’m sure she’s a wonderful person (I’ve never met her so I can’t tell really) She just has this “angry” look I guess and I just can’t help to think that she wears the pants in the relationship when the doors are closed lol.

Michelle can look “angry” in certain poses because of the way her jaw is formed, but she doesn’t seem angry in general.

But, in general, I dislike that people focus so much on the First Ladies’ appearances rather than what they do. The presidents haven’t exactly been lookers either (except of course, Barack 😉 ). It just goes to show that the most important aspect of a woman, to many people, is still her looks.
I read a “behind-the-scenes” book on the Obamas, and it didn’t seem like Michelle wore the pants. Certainly, she’s much more organized and stable than he is, but I doubt anyone could control Barack. He does what he wants; Michelle was initially opposed to him running for senator and him running for president, and we see how that turned out… I’d rather not think about their sex life.

So I’m not the only one in love with Barack’s eyebrows/eyes… he got them from his maternal grandfather.
Barack is amazingly handsome. I’m still giving Michelle the “Have you lost your mind?” face for her thinking he wasn’t cute at first. Though I admit he had to grow into his looks; it seems like the whole Obama family had to grow into their looks. Just wait until Sasha is in her 20s/30s: First black woman president in the making. 😉
I don’t really buy the whole “she needs to be responsible/careful with money” for any rich or powerful people. I mean, it’s not her fault her dad is a president, and I am sure Obamas are doing a great job at raising their daughters. But I am not 100% sure you can grow up… normal and completely down to Earth when your parents, and therefore you, too, are public/celebrity figures. It’s just how it goes. But I wish both girls all the luck; their parents seem responsible (unlike some other presidents).
About Michelle, I think she is an elegant and an attractive woman. A real lady. She might not be the hottest woman in the world, but she sure isn’t ugly. The only thing I strongly dislike about her is the way she shapes her eyebrows. IT’S what give her face somewhat “angry” look, I think. I know bushy eyebrows are considered a huge no-no, but I think she should go a bit easier on them. And this coming from a person who knows nothing about fashion, makeup and stuff.
Speaking of Hillary, I am sorry but I don’t find her attractive at all. Nor her husband for that matter. But I guess I am biased against the Clintons.
That being said, I agree that first lady’s looks is irrelevant; who cares if she’s pretty or not? Michelle Obama sure seems very intelligent, and that’s more important.
PS- Barack is more cute than handsome if you ask me. He has this warm smile and beautiful eyes. But he’s a bit too skinny for my taste.

I agree she should shape them a little (or a lot) lower. It would soften her appearance. I’ve heard she stopped scowling so much, at the advice of some people who said that is contributing to people thinking she is angry and bossy.

I think it does have something to do with that. That, and the fact that she isn’t the mainstream’s idea of a good-looking black woman (i.e. one who looks as close to white as possible). I mean, Hillary Clinton is a pretty stern woman (with the looks to match), and although she gets a lot of backlash, I haven’t heard nearly as much negative/petty comments about her appearance.

Children many times don’t look much like one or both of their parents. I’m pretty sure she is his biological daughter. She just takes after her mother’s side, but I think she has his shape of forehead, for what it’s worth.
